TYPES OF BACTERIA
There are three types of bacteria, there is the spirochaetes, the rickettsia, and the mycoplasma. The spirochaetes bacteria is corkscrew shaped and fall into three different species, treponema, leptospira, and borrelia. The rickettsia bacteria come from the rickettsiaceae family which can only live and survive inside other living cells. The Mycoplasma bacteria have no cell walls which can infect humans and cause pneumonia.
The two major bacteria types
There are two major bacteria types, there is the bacteria group, and then there is the cyanobacteria group. The bacteria group is obviously the more well known group, but sense we already know a lot about bacteria I will be talking about cyanobacteria. Cyanobacteria was believed to have arrived on earth 2.7 billion years ago, but other scientist believe it arrived on earth 2.3 billion years ago. Cyanobacteria is the only bacteria that produce oxygen as a byproduct of metabolism, it was not until cyanobacteria appeared on earth that oxygen was found in the earth's atmosphere.
the population if bacteria
In 1998, a American microbiologist discovered that the number of bacteria on Earth at the time was five million trillion trillion.
This is a picture of the bacteria type called "mycoplasma"
